Vickerstock is proud to collaborate with a prominent food production organization in the recruitment of a Technical & Quality Manager for their facility in North Wales.

As a pivotal member of the site management team, the Technical & Quality Manager will report directly to the Factory Manager and will be responsible for enhancing quality and technical performance across the site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the effective operation of quality systems to ensure compliance with all applicable guidelines and standards.
  • Ensure that all products meet established quality criteria and perform due diligence checks, including specifications, labeling, weight and measures, temperature control, and food safety standards.
  • Develop and maintain product specifications through retailer platforms and internal systems.
  • Maintain high standards of cleanliness and hygiene on-site in accordance with Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP).
  • Facilitate a continuous improvement program across the site and lead investigations and improvement initiatives for technical and quality KPIs.
  • Engage with customer representatives and regulatory bodies, coordinating and leading site visits and audits.
  • Drive and implement enhancements in line with the overarching technical strategy of the group.
  • Identify, establish, and implement quality objectives for the site.
  • Design and execute training and mentoring programs for technical staff to promote career development.
  • Establish and maintain an internal auditing system that adapts to the evolving requirements of our clients in a cost-effective manner.
  • Develop and sustain a site HACCP program.
  • Implement trend analysis and statistical reporting to support quality enhancement, complemented by on-site laboratory and in-process analyses.
  • Formulate and enforce specifications for raw materials, processing parameters, and final products, ensuring incoming materials meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with the group development manager and contribute to new product development projects as needed.
  • Actively participate in the site management team and support operational and environmental goals.
  • Oversee the on-site analytical laboratory.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as required.

Essential Qualifications:

  • A minimum of 3 years of management experience within a food quality and technical department.
  • Experience leading customer and accreditation audits.
  • Proficient in the development, implementation, and review of Quality Management Systems (QMS) and HACCP monitoring plans.
  • Strong IT skills.

Desirable Qualifications:

  • A degree or equivalent qualification in food science.
  • Knowledge of microbiological and analytical testing.
  • Familiarity with laboratory environments.
