Principal - Infrastructure and Renewable Resources

BCI is seeking a highly motivated and experienced Principal to join its Infrastructure and Renewable Resources (I&RR) team in a key leadership role.

About the Role

The Principal will support the investment activities of the I&RR program, conducting thorough due diligence activities for prospective investment opportunities and managing the long-term holdings of the program.

Key Responsibilities
  • Strategic Network Development: Develop and lead regional and sector networks to drive investment opportunities and partnerships, fostering strong relationships with key stakeholders.
  • External Engagement: Provide external contact and relationship management, ensuring effective communication with various groups.
  • Investment Origination: Play a key role in the execution of group origination strategies, identifying and evaluating potential investment opportunities.
  • Investment Prioritization: Participate in investment opportunity prioritization and triage, ensuring alignment with the company's goals and objectives.
  • Research and Planning: Participate in the research and planning for potential new investment sectors or geographies, staying up-to-date with industry trends and developments.
Investment Due Diligence
  • Analysis and Leadership: Lead/manage analysis of critical workstreams as part of the due diligence process, ensuring thorough evaluation of investment opportunities.
  • Investment Approval: Participate/lead the investment approval process through preparation of associated materials and presentations, ensuring seamless execution.
Investment Monitoring, Management, & Risk
  • Portfolio Management: Work with portfolio company boards and management teams, providing guidance and support to ensure successful investment outcomes.
  • Collaboration and Risk Management: Collaborate with other shareholder groups, tracking, reporting, and managing potential risks within the portfolio.
  • Best Practices: Identify opportunities to integrate best practice in respect to departmental practices, policies, and operational procedures, driving continuous improvement.
  • Client Support: Assist in BCI specific client presentations, documents, and discussions, ensuring effective communication and relationship management.
  • Inter-Departmental Dialogue: Develop and maintain constructive inter-departmental dialogue, fostering a collaborative environment.
Mentorship

Requirements
  • Experience: 4-7 years of experience in direct infrastructure and/or private market investments investment management, preferably with institutional investment experience.
  • Academic Credentials: Strong and relevant academic credentials.
  • Industry Knowledge: Deep understanding and experience in the private market direct investment process from sourcing to execution to post-investment monitoring and management.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, with a proven ability to build lasting trust-based relationships with a wide variety of stakeholders.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Organizational Skills: Strong organizational skills.
