Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Kier Highways team as a Commercial Lead. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in managing the commercial and financial aspects of our highway projects, ensuring cost control, contract management, and risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Cost Management: Prepare, monitor, and control budgets for highway projects, conducting detailed cost forecasting and reporting, and managing project costs to ensure the project remains within budget.
  • Contract Management: Prepare and review contract documents, including bills of quantities, specifications, and drawings, overseeing and managing subcontractor agreements, and ensuring compliance with contractual terms and conditions.
  • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly cost reports and financial statements, conducting regular financial reviews and updates, and providing financial insights and recommendations to senior management.
  • Risk Management: Identify and assess potential risks to the project, developing and implementing risk mitigation strategies, and maintaining a risk register and ensuring it is up to date.
  • Procurement: Lead the procurement process for materials and subcontractors, negotiating contracts and pricing with suppliers and subcontractors, and ensuring timely and cost-effective procurement of resources.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in quantity surveying, construction management, or a related field.
  • Proven track record in cost management, contract administration, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of construction contracts, law, and regulations.
