Key Responsibilities
- Adhere to the Care Certificate standards while mentoring junior staff to achieve their professional goals. Demonstrate effective communication skills to assist patients with diverse needs, including those with physical disabilities, mental health challenges, or learning difficulties.
- Monitor and document patients' vital signs, such as blood pressure, pulse, temperature, and oxygen levels, promptly reporting any irregularities to the nursing team. Ensure patient comfort and initiate emergency protocols when necessary.
- Accurately measure and record patients' height and weight as part of their ongoing assessment.

- Prepare dressing and procedure trolleys under the supervision of registered staff, progressing to independent preparation upon successful completion of competency assessments.
- Ensure daily cleaning of equipment, including trolleys and drip stands, and notify the nursing staff of any required repairs.
- Collect blood products from the blood bank, contingent upon completion of the relevant blood transfusion competency training.
Qualifications and Experience
Essential
- Possession of the Care Certificate or the ability to obtain it within the specified timeframe.
- Proven experience in a healthcare setting.
- Understanding of the needs of critically and chronically ill patients.
- Evidence of continuous professional development.
Desirable
- NVQ Level 2 in Health and Social Care.
Experience Requirements
Essential
- Experience in a healthcare environment.
- Proficiency in computer usage, including data entry and keyboard skills.
Desirable
- Experience working with oncology patients.
