Job Title: Specialist Palliative Care Development Nurse

We are seeking an experienced and passionate Specialist Palliative Care Development Nurse to join our team at St Benedict's Hospice and Centre for Specialist Palliative Care in Sunderland. As a key member of our multidisciplinary team, you will play a vital role in delivering high-quality patient care and supporting the development of our nursing practice.

About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic and supportive environment, where you will have the chance to develop your skills and expertise in palliative care. As a Specialist Palliative Care Development Nurse, you will work closely with our Specialist Palliative Care Nurse (Band 7) and other healthcare professionals to provide specialist care and support to patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities
  • Work as part of the multidisciplinary team to deliver high-quality patient care and support the development of our nursing practice.
  • Develop and implement care pathways for palliative and end-of-life care patients.
  • Provide specialist clinical advice and support to patients and clinical staff.
  • Contribute to training and education within the specialist area of palliative care.
  • Represent the service at national and local levels.
Person Specification
  • Degree in nursing studies or relevant clinical degree.
  • Mentorship certificate or equivalent experience.
  • Clinical skills accreditation or willingness to complete.
  • Leadership and management course.
  • Basic knowledge of financial management.
  • Non-medical prescribing or willingness to complete.
