WSN is seeking a skilled Database Administrator to support the growth of our multi-strategy, multi-manager global hedge fund.

This is an excellent opportunity for a talented individual to join a small team and have a significant impact on the development of our database infrastructure.

The Database Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the health, performance, and security of our production, UAT, QA, and development databases. This includes:

  • Database health checks and performance efficiencies
  • Security and database maintenance and patching
  • Backup, restore, and recovery processes
  • Space management and replication
  • High availability and disaster recovery
  • Data migration and integration
  • Enforcing data policies and RBAC user access administration

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in database administration, with experience in MS SQL Server database management on-prem and on cloud (Azure and/or AWS). They will also be proficient in writing T-SQL scripts to improve business processes and make recommendations on improving database operations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, information systems, software engineering, or equivalent education
  • 5+ years of experience in a database administrator role
  • Proficiency in MS SQL Server database management on-prem and on cloud (Azure and/or AWS)
  • Detailed knowledge of SQL Server backup, restore, and log management techniques
  • Willingness to learn and support new database technologies and techniques
  • Ability to cover at least 4 business hours per day in US Eastern Standard Time

Nice To Haves:

  • Experience with SQL Server technologies such as table partitioning, temporal tables, change tracking, and transactional replication
  • Experience migrating between database platforms (SQL Server to Azure DB and vice-versa)
  • Working knowledge of SQL Server performance tuning methodologies
  • Familiarity with Linux, Python, and enterprise job management
  • Experience in git-based version control workflows
