Overview:
As a Glasshouse Technician 1, you will play a vital role in the execution of crop phenotyping experiments within controlled environments. Your responsibilities will include:
  • Conducting experiments to assess and quantify plant traits.
  • Enhancing operational efficiency for effective data collection.
  • Ensuring timely delivery of phenotypic data to meet project objectives.
  • Adhering to Health, Safety, and Environmental Policies.
  • Being available to work during weekends and holidays as required.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Maintain clear communication with team members regarding project progress.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in phenotyping techniques applicable to row crops.
  • Independently plan and execute experimental protocols.
  • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to fulfill project goals.
  • Contribute to research initiatives and assist in publication efforts.
  • Engage in plant care and greenhouse operations as necessary.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in greenhouse settings or similar industries.
  • Hands-on familiarity with automated phenotyping technologies.
  • Understanding of plant phenotyping processes and workflows.
Education Requirements:
  • Bachelor's degree in Plant Biology, Crop Science, or a related discipline.
  • Proficiency in techniques related to phenotyping for row crops.
Essential Skills:
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a network.
  • Expertise in protocol implementation.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Competence in experimental design and data collection.
Additional Skills:
  • Knowledge of horticulture practices.
  • Experience in plant maintenance.
  • Familiarity with MS Office applications.
