Role Overview
This position is responsible for overseeing the management of all operations related to ROI/NI hubs. The role involves leading, supporting, and motivating the Customs Night Shift Team tasked with the verification and loading of vehicles bound for Dublin and Belfast, addressing all aspects of our ROI/NI services. It is essential to document and respond to any customs-related issues or concerns, implementing corrective measures as necessary. The role also includes the completion of customs export and import declarations, along with reports and recommendations to enhance business operations. A key aspect of this position is the implementation of the DX's Windsor Framework solution, ensuring that all qualifying goods possess valid clearance prior to being loaded onto vehicles destined for Northern Ireland. This will require collaboration with customers, partners, and external authorities, including HMRC and Revenue Ireland.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team comprising up to 5 Customs Entry Clerks/Supervisors, alongside 3 Hub Operatives and a Hub Team Leader, to ensure optimal operational efficiency.
- Timely completion and verification of customs declarations (both export and import, including commodity codes) on our customs platforms.
- Maintain internal controls and logs to uphold the highest standards of customs compliance.
- Identify and report any non-compliance issues to the Group Head of Customs, ensuring both remedial and permanent corrective actions are documented.
- Facilitate the rollout of Windsor Framework procedures across all DX Group sites involved in GB-NI vehicle shipments.
- Review and resubmit TSS rejections promptly for GB-NI shipments.
- Prepare and send nightly bulk upload data files to HMRC for all GB-NI B2C consignments.
- Address customs-related inquiries from customers and team members as needed.
- Maintain comprehensive records to meet all HMRC and Revenue Ireland requirements and manage the Group's customs audit program.
- Act as a point of escalation for customers and colleagues to ensure effective coordination of all international shipments.
- Generate or amend driver documentation, ensuring all vehicle and flight details are ready for customs processing.
- Engage in additional projects and training as required.
Essential Qualifications
- A minimum of 3 years of experience in customs operations.
- Familiarity with import/export customs procedures for air and road transport.
- Experience with Transit/EIDR procedures is advantageous.
- Strong time management capabilities.
- Exceptional organizational skills.
- Ability to work with precision and attention to detail.
- Proven ability to motivate a team to enhance productivity and accuracy.
