Job Title: Teaching Assistant - SEN Support

We are seeking a dedicated and passionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support to a pupil with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in one of our excellent Primary Schools in North Shields.

About the Role:
  • Support a pupil with ASD and challenging behaviour on a 1:1 basis.
  • Manage challenging behaviour in a positive, proactive, and consistent manner.
  • Build positive relationships with Class Teachers to support the pupil and discuss/implement strategies and learning activities to promote pupil progress.
  • Prepare resources for lessons.
  • Supervise pupils at break times and lunch times as required.
Requirements:
  • An Enhanced DBS (ideally on the Update Service but this is not essential as we can process a new one for you).
  • Ideally a recognised Childcare-based qualification, although again, this is not essential.
  • An ability to build positive relationships and a rapport with pupils and staff.
  • A resilient, proactive, and positive nature.
  • Experience of supporting pupils in a School setting.
  • Ideally experience of 1:1 Support within a School setting.
  • High levels of enthusiasm, energy, and positivity when working with pupils.
  • A genuine passion for helping young people to fulfil their potential and flourish in education.
