MISSION / SUMMARY: As a Production Shift Supervisor, you will oversee the entire Finishing department during your shift in the absence of departmental management. Your role will involve making critical decisions in production processes and optimizing output through effective organization and resource management. You will strive for continuous improvement in productivity, waste reduction, product quality, and customer service.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Communicate company objectives, safety protocols, and deadlines to your team.
  • Set and achieve performance targets in health and safety, machine efficiency, waste management, product quality, and customer service.
  • Assist the Finishing Manager in meeting weekly production goals and maintaining service levels.
  • Drive improvements and standardization across operations, optimizing equipment and resource utilization.
  • Identify and implement proactive solutions to enhance operational efficiency.
  • Provide training to foster a Lean culture and identify cost-saving opportunities.
  • Support the introduction of new systems and procedures.
  • Enhance customer satisfaction by improving quality and service levels, addressing complaints effectively.
  • Conduct team meetings to share best practices and expectations.
  • Manage HR responsibilities for your team, including conducting return-to-work interviews and supporting the hiring and training of new members.
  • Ensure adherence to Standard Operating Procedures and identify development needs within the team.

BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE:

  • Experience in a printing or packaging environment is preferred.
  • Familiarity with BRC and ISO9001 standards.
  • Knowledge of data capture systems.
  • Understanding of COSHH and IOSH is advantageous.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership and management skills.
  • Excellent problem-solving abilities and commercial awareness.

INTERPERSONAL SKILLS:

  • Ability to lead, mentor, and motivate teams to drive improvements.
  • Strong communication skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive work ethic with a positive attitude.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and Outlook.
  • A full clean UK driving license is essential.
  • Strong educational background with the ability to present information clearly.
