Job Title: Quantity Surveyor

As a Quantity Surveyor at Farrans Construction, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the financial success of our projects. Your primary responsibility will be to monitor and control costs, maximize revenue, minimize liabilities, and maintain accurate financial records.

Main Responsibilities:
  • Provide accurate financial reporting to achieve the best commercial results for our projects.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our supply chain partners and clients.
  • Manage subcontractor and supplier accounts, ensuring financial and contractual compliance.
  • Place orders with the supply chain in accordance with our procurement schedule.
  • Complete measurements and valuations of work executed, ensuring they meet contract conditions.
  • Ensure timely payments to subcontractors and suppliers, meeting cash targets and work-in-progress requirements.
  • Ensure Farrans Construction complies with all contractual obligations.
  • Monitor project expenditure against budget, providing analysis of cost overruns and projections.
  • Identify opportunities to maximize value and minimize costs.
  • Liaise with clients on commercial issues, including variations, claims, and additional payments.
  • Prepare and document legitimate contractual claims.
  • Strive for continuous improvement in the commercial process and your area of responsibility.
  • Adhere to all business compliance requirements, aligning with Company policies.
Requirements:
  • Prior experience in a construction QS role, working on major projects.
  • Strong understanding of modern building techniques, plant, and equipment, and logistical needs.
  • Knowledge of construction contract conditions.
  • Appreciation of the impact of cost on project completion and development of construction solutions.
  • Educated to degree level in Quantity Surveying/Commercial Management or equivalent qualification.
  • Full driving license.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office (Excel, Project, PowerPoint, Word, Outlook) and database software.
