About the Role
We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our team at Reed Engineering. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for providing a proactive maintenance service to ensure the smooth operation of our manufacturing plant.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out routine maintenance tasks, including predictive and preventative maintenance, to minimize downtime and improve plant performance.
- Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical faults, working closely with cross-functional teams to ensure timely resolution.
- Develop and implement PPM schedules to optimize machine availability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Record and track maintenance activities, including work orders and fault diagnosis, using our CMMS system.
- Participate in daily and weekly maintenance meetings to prioritize tasks and ensure alignment with business objectives.
- Source and procure engineering parts, ensuring accurate booking and recording.
- Collaborate with specialist OEM service engineers to resolve complex issues.
- Implement lean practices to minimize waste and maximize efficiency, driving departmental objectives.
- Participate in training and upskilling activities to maintain and improve technical knowledge.
- Perform safety and quality risk assessments for engineering work tasks.
- Adhere to safe work practices, environmental, and legislative requirements.
Requirements
- A relevant vocational qualification, such as NVQ, ONC, HNC, HND, C&G, or an appropriate apprenticeship.
- Experience in mechanical maintenance, with a strong understanding of mechanical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical systems.
- Ability to read and understand engineering drawings and specifications.
- Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills, with a strong focus on quality and safety.
- Experience in a medium to heavy manufacturing environment, with a strong understanding of plant operations and maintenance.
