Position Overview
We are in search of a proactive and analytical Business Analyst to become a vital part of our Business Development team at NIHR. This team is dedicated to assisting the Life Science sector in comprehending, accessing, and leveraging the extensive resources that NIHR offers to support pioneering research, facilities, services, and expertise.
The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Business Development and will collaborate with various teams across NIHR's expansive, multifaceted, and nationally distributed organization. Occasional travel to NIHR sites or conferences throughout the UK may be necessary.
Primary Responsibilities
- Utilize diverse databases and information sources to assist in generating market and research data analyses that facilitate strategic industry engagement and the formulation of marketing proposals.
- Oversee the management of industry inquiries; ensure timely assignment of inquiries to appropriate team members to provide prompt responses to companies.
- Guide companies in navigating the NIHR and broader UK research landscape through engagement; comprehend their products and research requirements, identify relevant expertise and resources, and facilitate appropriate introductions.
- Ensure all inquiries and subsequent opportunities are documented and tracked, along with their outcomes, using the CRM system and relevant tracking tools.
- Lead the execution of various projects and initiatives as needed, ensuring alignment with timelines and deliverables in collaboration with management.
- Assist the NIHR Business Development team in accurately measuring and reporting KPIs and supporting metrics in a timely manner, ensuring data integrity.
- Participate in exhibitions and conferences as required to identify new industry opportunities and enhance understanding of the research ecosystem, technologies, and health.
- Support the organization and execution of NIHR events.

Qualifications & Experience
Essential Criteria
- A BSc or equivalent degree with a focus on biology and/or chemistry.
- Experience in analyzing diverse data sets and the ability to synthesize findings into comprehensive reports.
- Basic knowledge of healthcare product development, including therapies, diagnostics, or medical devices.
- Proficient in IT: Familiarity with various software applications and web-based data sources, such as Mailchimp, Microsoft Excel, and Google's G Suite.
Desirable Criteria
- Research experience; capable of independently conducting research to gain insights into specific topics and effectively communicating findings to diverse audiences.
- Experience with client relationship management (CRM) software, preferably Salesforce.
- Experience in analyzing and reporting on market intelligence data.
- Industry experience within a company focused on developing healthcare products or related service businesses (e.g., CROs, other life science firms).
- Advanced IT skills, including data management and analysis software, programming, and website development.
- Project management experience.
- An advanced degree in biological sciences (MSc/PhD).
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: £31,100 - £32,800 PA
Bonus potential based on company performance.
