Job Description

**Job Summary:**

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Engineer to join our team at ZipRecruiter. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for assisting with the launch of new products at the customer site, playing a crucial role in the design, selection, layout, and delivery of parts based on a Bill of Materials (BOM) supplied by the customer.

Main Responsibilities:

  1. Design and Selection: Work closely with our client to design and select the appropriate delivery method of parts to meet the agreed takt time and synthetic time calculations.
  2. Engineering Collaboration: Work closely with the Off-Shore engineering team to produce specifications for in-house jigs and fixtures.
  3. Validation and Feedback: Perform validation trials and feedback information to optimize Logistics area layout designs.
  4. Layout Planning: Produce layout plans and operator training plans.
  5. Machinery Procurement: Liaise with machinery suppliers, produce detailed specifications and business cases, negotiate new machinery costs, and present to the customer for approval.
  6. Equipment Installation: Oversee the installation of equipment, perform risk assessments, write standard operating procedures, and train operators.
  7. Supply Chain Analysis: Support the supply chain department in terms of analysis of supplier processes and make/buy calculations for comparing in-house manufacture with external solutions.
  8. Continuous Improvement: Implement and handover a Continuous Improvement program once production has started to maximize capacity, quality, and efficiency.
  9. Process Capability: Ensure that processes are capable and stable.
  10. Impact Analysis: Produce impact analyses for the suggested layout designs, analyzing the effects on the cost to manufacture.
  11. Verification Trials: Perform verification trials and evaluate the ease and repeatability of the assembly of new and existing products.
  12. Quality Assurance: Ensure the highest quality throughout, minimize teething issues and faults through PFMEA and formal root-cause analysis investigations.
  13. Standard Operating Procedures: Write SOPs and process flows.
  14. Interdepartmental Communication: Work closely with the Quality Assurance team to ensure that defects are minimized but are also recorded and acted upon.
  15. Lessons Learned: Ensure robust feedback loops between departments, and communicate lessons learned once products are in production.

Requirements:

  • Production Lines: Sound knowledge of production lines.
  • Practical Approach: A hands-on practical approach.
  • Lean Principles: Skilled in launching new product(s) within an established manufacturing environment. Technical knowledge of Lean principles and other manufacturing theories.
  • Problem Solving: Problem-solving experience using Root Cause Analysis or DMAIC (Design, Measure, Analyze, Improve, and Control).
  • Communication Skills: Good communication skills and the ability to produce clear, precise work instructions.
  • Simulation Tools: Knowledge and preferably hands-on skills with simulation tools for throughput and/or ergonomics assessment - or experience in providing accurate inputs and conditions to facilitate simulations.
  • Manufacturing Knowledge: Knowledge of high-value and medium-throughput manufacturing.
  • HSE Safety and Ergonomics: Knowledge of HSE Safety and Ergonomics requirements in the workplace.
