We are seeking a skilled and experienced Lead Quantity Surveyor to enhance our construction teams within the organization.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in cost management and financial oversight within the Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing (MEP) sector.

Typically, the successful applicant will hold a Chartered Membership with RICS, ICES, or CIOB and have a proven history of leading a small team of junior commercial staff while providing mentorship to those pursuing professional qualifications. They will also be committed to their Continuing Professional Development (CPD).

Key Responsibilities

The role will encompass the following responsibilities:

  • Demonstrate a thorough understanding of and compliance with the company’s governance protocols while maximizing opportunities for LEAN and digital integration.
  • Systematically organize information and verify data accuracy.
  • Develop Activity Schedules, Resource Schedules, and analyze tender documentation.
  • Conduct critical appraisals, estimates, and negotiations with third parties.
  • Review intricate contract programs, including Time-Location assessments.
  • Assist in the formulation of delay and disruption programs.
  • Monitor subcontractor activities, measuring performance and responding as necessary.
  • Prepare internal reports on commercial progress and financial reconciliations for senior project personnel.
  • Understand customer contracts and manage relationships with clients and stakeholders.
  • Analyze rates and prices, and manage variations or compensation events as required.
  • Prepare, submit, and negotiate claims when necessary.
  • Oversee commercial aspects with customers and stakeholders within their area of responsibility.
  • Conduct constructability analyses utilizing construction schedules.
  • Develop procurement programs and assist in strategic planning.
  • Support the recruitment, supervision, and professional development of team members.

Candidate Profile

The following qualifications or their equivalents are essential:

  • BSc or MSc in Quantity Surveying or equivalent experience.
  • MRCIS/MCInstCES/MCIOB or actively working towards these qualifications.
  • CSCS Card (Professional Qualified Person).
