Astute Recruitment is seeking a skilled Payroll Specialist to become a vital part of a dynamic team. This opportunity is for a temporary to permanent position, ideal for candidates who excel in collaborative settings while also demonstrating the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the accurate and timely processing of payroll for a workforce of 1,700 employees, ensuring compliance with statutory deductions and payments.
  • Perform meticulous audits of payroll data and manage various tasks prior to final submission.
  • Engage with internal stakeholders, external auditors, pension consultants, and local government entities.
  • Ensure precise data entry and statistical reporting that aligns with organizational requirements.
  • Effectively manage the time and attendance system, completing all month-end and year-end responsibilities punctually.
  • Provide essential support for critical functions and projects, including maintaining standard operating procedures.

Candidate Requirements:

  • Proven experience in a comparable role, managing payroll for a similar-sized workforce.
  • Demonstrated expertise in end-to-end payroll processes.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work autonomously when necessary.
  • Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes.
  • Familiarity with payroll systems such as ADP or People XD is advantageous but not mandatory.

Benefits and Working Hours:

  • Competitive salary up to £28,000, commensurate with experience.
  • Standard working hours from 8:30 AM to 5 PM, Monday to Thursday.
  • Early finish on Fridays.
