Job Title: Corporate Paralegal

Burford Capital LLC is seeking a highly skilled Corporate Paralegal to join its Legal and Compliance team. As a key member of the team, you will play a vital role in supporting the successful closing and management of Burford's investments, primarily in the EMEA and APAC regions.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Support the London Corporate Counsel and other members of Burford's Legal and Compliance team in drafting, reviewing, and negotiating transaction and other documents.
  2. Manage transactions and administration, conduct research, and develop Burford policies and knowledge resources.
  3. Collaborate with Burford's Legal and Compliance and business teams to progress and implement the company's goals.

This role will report to the London Corporate Counsel and will be based in Burford's London office.

• Under the supervision of London Corporate Counsel, assist with:

  1. Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating investment documents for new transactions.
  2. Drafting, reviewing, and finalizing various contracts and other legal documents, including confidentiality agreements, corporate authorizations, and amendments.
  3. Liaising with external counsel on local law issues, such as security documentation.


• Support the Legal and Compliance team with other legal and administrative items as needed, such as knowledge management, maintaining records of investment and other relevant documents, and managing outside counsel retentions and billing matters.

Requirements:


• Law degree and/or legal experience, required.


• Financial industry and/or legal industry experience, ideally in a leading law firm or corporate legal department, desirable.


• Experience of working with financing, security, or other legal documents or otherwise supporting a legal transactional team, desirable.

Strong proof-reading skills and attention to detail.Excellent computer skills, including some proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint, and willingness to adapt to and master changing technology.Burford Capital LLC is committed to increasing diversity and maintaining an inclusive workplace culture.
