Opportunity Overview

Dungeness B is executing Defueling, Transfer, and Deconstruction preparation initiatives in accordance with the Nuclear Liabilities Fund Agreement (NFLA). The Project Controls Group Head will oversee and direct the development of these initiatives, connecting local station operations with broader Nuclear Decommissioning functions and stakeholder groups.

Compensation and Workplace Culture

The salary range for this position is between £84,892 - £109,007, with the starting salary for this role set within the range of £84,892 - £98,004. Your appointment will be based on the parameters outlined in the Company Agreement, as well as your current salary, skills, experience, and qualifications. You will enjoy 28 days of annual leave in addition to public holidays, opportunities for incremental and competency-based progression, and a defined contributions pension scheme.

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Decommissioning Manager, you will lead a team of Planners and Cost Engineers while also overseeing the Planning and Cost aspects for the Defueling, Transfer, and Deconstruction initiatives through a matrix organization.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Evaluating and managing the performance and proficiency of the project controls team while supporting succession planning.
  • Serving as the primary contact for planning, costing, resource allocation, and risk management for programs, projects, work packages, and tasks.
  • Assisting Nuclear Decommissioning (ND) functions with the necessary inputs to fulfill our obligations under the NLFA contract.
  • Supporting the ND Portfolio by offering analysis and guidance related to establishing a suitable project control capacity and capability.
  • Delivering performance monitoring and insights regarding costs, schedules, risks, issues, and opportunities.
  • Advocating for and ensuring the strict application of change control within the portfolio.
  • Establishing effective interfaces with central ND functions (PMO, Defueling, Deconstruction & Transfer).

Candidate Profile

You will possess at least a HNC qualification or equivalent in a relevant discipline. A degree would be advantageous, as would membership in a recognized professional association or institute.

You should have experience in project and work control methodologies within complex, multi-functional organizations and be familiar with project management tools. Previous experience in project management within a large, highly regulated environment is essential. Strong commercial and financial awareness, along with a solid understanding of financial systems, is required.
