GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Secondary Teaching Assistant to join our supportive school community. The ideal candidate will have experience working with students who have SEMH needs and will be committed to fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

About the Role

We are looking for a skilled and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide one-on-one and group support to students with SEMH needs. The successful candidate will assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management, and develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide support to students with SEMH needs, promoting a positive and nurturing environment to encourage student engagement and success.
  • Assist the classroom teacher with lesson preparation and classroom management.
  • Develop and implement individualized learning plans for students.
  • Collaborate with teachers, parents, and external professionals to support student development.
Requirements
  • Previous experience working with secondary school students with SEMH needs.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting young people.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in SEMH support (desirable).

Please note that this role requires a strong knowledge and understanding of safeguarding and child protection, and successful applicants must satisfy all background safer recruitment checks, including providing an enhanced DBS on the update service or completing an application for a new check.
