About the Role
Diamond Light Source is seeking a highly skilled Senior RF/Electronics Engineer to join our Radio Frequency group. As a key member of the team, you will be responsible for the design, development, and maintenance of RF equipment and systems.
Key responsibilities include:
- Design and development of new electronic circuits and systems
- Management and inventory control of the RF laboratory and test equipment
- Project management of small R&D projects
- Study and development projects for future upgrades
- Simulation and analysis of installed and future systems
- Inspection, acceptance testing, installation, and maintenance of RF/electronic equipment
- Liaison with other groups for diagnosis and repair or new systems development and installation
- Ensuring safe working practices are followed
- Participation in setting up and preparing for beam operation and beam-off periods
- On-call duties following training
- Occasional shiftwork during commissioning and regular operations
About You
We are looking for an experienced RF or electronics design engineer with a strong background in design, fabrication, and testing of electronic circuits and systems. You should have experience with RF/electronic measurement instruments and data analysis, as well as good hands-on experience in electronic circuits and PCB developments.
A degree in a relevant discipline or significant equivalent experience is required. Knowledge/experience in RF/electronics simulation tools, PCB design software, particle accelerator RF systems, electrical and electronic fault finding, and willingness to take on a variety of tasks and learn new challenges are beneficial.
