Job Title: Support Worker

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Support Worker to join our team at St Basils. As a Support Worker, you will play a vital role in providing holistic support and guidance to young people with complex needs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Conduct comprehensive risk and needs assessments to identify areas for support and development.
  • Develop and implement personalized support plans to promote engagement and empowerment.
  • Provide non-judgmental and person-centered support to young people, utilizing a range of approaches to promote positive relationships and outcomes.
  • Work collaboratively with young people, families, and other stakeholders to achieve sustainable tenancies and improved life skills.
  • Support young people in accessing learning opportunities, employment, and volunteering experiences.
  • Facilitate access to relevant support services, including mental health, social care, and substance misuse services.
  • Advocate on behalf of young people to ensure their rights and interests are represented.
  • Provide practical support with budgeting, debt advice, and benefit claims.
  • Assist young people in developing life skills, such as cooking and shopping on a budget.
  • Scope out local services and support young people in making connections with the community.
  • Maintain accurate records and contribute to the induction of new staff, supervision of volunteers, and training of students.
Requirements:
  • GCSE A-C Grade in Maths and English or equivalent.
  • NVQ 3 in Advice and Guidance, Health and Social Care, or other relevant subject.
  • Experience of working in Youth Work, Residential or Social Work, Probation/Criminal Justice, Community Work, Education and Training, housing or support work.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of welfare rights and resources.
  • Knowledge of the breadth and complexity of needs young people may face.
Desirable:
  • Knowledge of relevant support services available, including mental health, social care, health, substance misuse, CSE, and County Lines.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of relevant Acts/legislation, i.e., Housing, Homelessness, Children's and Care Acts.
  • Valid driving license and car user.
