Role Overview:
The Cloud Solutions Engineer will be responsible for supporting cloud-hosted applications, with a strong emphasis on troubleshooting infrastructure and application issues, as well as managing incidents effectively.

Essential Skills:

Proficiency in CloudFormation (Infrastructure as Code), AWS Services including Cloud Compute, ECS, API Gateway Manager, Service Catalog, AWS Organizations, Trusted Advisor, Service Quotas, Secrets Manager, S3 Buckets, IAM, Jenkins Pipelines, and troubleshooting build failures. Experience in incident management and application monitoring services such as CloudWatch is also required.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide support for cloud-hosted applications, addressing incidents raised by development teams and coordinating with AWS Technical Support as necessary.
  • Engage with the AWS Support team and participate in AWS GameDay events as part of a larger support team.
  • Monitor application performance and manage incidents effectively.

Prior Experience:
Experience in managing CloudFormation (Infrastructure as Code), provisioning infrastructure, and supporting application deployments is essential. Familiarity with incident management processes is also required.

Automation and Scripting:
Experience with automation and scripting languages such as CloudFormation, Shell, Python, and Groovy is beneficial.

Interview Preparation:
During the interview process, candidates may be asked to explain concepts such as Blue/Green and Canary deployments, the process of updating AMIs without downtime, and the creation of S3 buckets with access permissions for API gateways and Lambda functions using CloudFormation templates. Additionally, candidates should be prepared to discuss their experience with AWS services, incident management, and application monitoring.

Leadership and Communication:
The role requires strong communication and negotiation skills, as it involves managing senior stakeholders across both technology and business domains. Familiarity with ITIL methodologies and experience in managing regional SRE/DevOps teams is advantageous.

Flexibility is essential, as the role may require working during odd hours and weekends. Hands-on experience with AWS services such as Glue, Kinesis, EC2/ECS, Lambda, DynamoDB, and CloudWatch is expected.
