Are you seeking a fulfilling opportunity in environmental education? Join FCC Environment as a Waste Awareness & Education Manager.
Compensation and Work Schedule
Salary: £32,315 - £38,018 per annum (plus benefits, currently under review)
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, with flexible scheduling based on visit requirements, including occasional weekends and evenings.
Role Summary
As the Waste Awareness & Education Manager, you will play a crucial role in enhancing public understanding of the waste hierarchy within Buckinghamshire. Your mission will be to promote waste prevention, reduction, re-use, recycling, and composting through innovative educational initiatives and effective communication strategies aimed at diverse community and educational groups.
Key Responsibilities
1. Develop and implement educational programs focused on the waste hierarchy, tailored for specific audiences, including the creation of engaging presentation materials and resources.
2. Create National Curriculum-aligned educational resources related to the Energy from Waste (EfW) treatment facility and its associated transfer stations.
3. Welcome and engage visitors at the EfW facility, utilizing a variety of presentation techniques and visual aids to convey information effectively.
4. Promote the EfW facility throughout the county by visiting schools and organizations, and organizing a usage program to maximize engagement.
5. Collaborate closely with Buckinghamshire County Council and other stakeholders, such as local community groups and schools, to integrate their needs into the educational and facility usage programs.
6. Prepare reports on educational initiatives and programs as required by contractual obligations.
7. Ensure that all work is completed within established timeframes and budgetary constraints.
8. Participate in ongoing training and development opportunities, including induction and personal development plans.
9. Uphold the company’s equal opportunities policy, ensuring services are accessible to all community members.
10. Adhere to health and safety regulations and company environmental policies while performing job duties.
11. Conduct guided tours of the EfW facility, demonstrating a comprehensive understanding of its operations and technology.
Qualifications
Previous experience in a similar educational or outreach role is essential.
