To bolster the ongoing expansion of our Sustainable Finance and Climate Policy division, we are seeking a seasoned Senior Consultant to enhance our operations. The ideal candidate will become part of a vibrant team, contributing to our initiatives focused on business, finance, and biodiversity. This role presents the chance to engage in flagship projects such as the European Business & Biodiversity Platform, research related to biodiversity certifications, and the transition of business and finance towards nature-positive frameworks. Our clientele includes esteemed organizations such as the European Commission, national governments, and various development finance institutions.

Our team has earned a reputation for effectively delivering large-scale, intricate projects, developing innovative solutions that foster positive change for clients and support the broader sustainable transition within the EU and beyond. Some of our notable projects encompass:

  • Facilitating the European Business and Biodiversity Platform for the European Commission since 2013
  • Contributing to the establishment of a standard for biodiversity measurement and valuation for corporations and financial entities through the Align project for the European Commission
  • Crafting Sustainable Finance Action Plans for various EU Member States
  • Assessing the influence of green bonds on climate mitigation investments for the European Investment Bank
  • Assisting National Promotional Banks in their sustainable finance strategies
  • Providing ongoing expertise to support the successful execution of the EU Emissions Trading System's Innovation Fund

Key Responsibilities:

As part of a multi-national, multi-disciplinary, and collaborative team of climate and environmental specialists, economists, engineers, financial analysts, and communication experts, you will:

  • Oversee and execute projects for both public and private sector clients
  • Deliver comprehensive qualitative and quantitative analyses, translating complex data into actionable insights
  • Engage with stakeholders through diverse quantitative and qualitative methodologies
  • Support ICF's business development initiatives in the realm of business, finance, and biodiversity
  • Contribute to ICF's thought leadership in business, finance, and biodiversity, identifying emerging trends and opportunities to develop new service offerings for clients

Required Qualifications & Skills:

  • Proficiency in spoken and written English
  • Master's degree in biology, ecology, environmental sciences, environmental economics, environmental engineering, or a related field
  • Demonstrated experience in business, finance, and biodiversity
  • Strong analytical skills, including advanced proficiency in Excel and similar tools
  • Project management expertise, evidenced by experience managing complex projects with multiple stakeholders in an international context
  • Effective communication skills and a proven track record in stakeholder engagement, particularly with public authorities and the business and finance sectors
  • Ability to work autonomously as well as collaboratively within diverse consulting teams across various countries and time zones
  • A minimum of 6 years of professional experience

Preferred Qualifications & Skills:

  • Fluency in an additional EU language
  • Familiarity with emerging tools and frameworks in business, finance, and biodiversity, such as SBTN, TNFD, CSRD, and ESRS E4
