Aerospace Assembly Technician


Morson Talent is currently seeking experienced Aerospace Assembly Technicians for new and exciting roles.

We are looking for candidates to engage in a contract position that offers a dynamic work environment.

Key Information:


Applicants must possess a Level 3 indentured apprenticeship in a relevant discipline or an NVQ Level 3, complemented by 3-5 years of experience in the aerospace sector.

Candidates will be required to showcase their expertise through a Trade Test, which will assess skills in metallic structural assembly, including drilling, riveting, countersinking, and bolting.

Standard Working Hours: 35 hours per week


Additional Working Hours Information: A 4-day work week, typically from Monday to Thursday, may transition to Tuesday to Friday with prior notice. Working hours are from 7:00 AM to 4:15 PM.

Shift Pattern:

Compensation:
£17.93 PAYE

Weekday Overtime: £22.41

Weekend Overtime: £26.90

Security Requirements:
Baseline Security Clearance is necessary, typically arranged before the commencement of employment.

Main Responsibilities:
Operate as a versatile and adaptable worker to maximize productivity and efficiency. Possess comprehensive knowledge of hand and machine tools utilized in the aerospace industry, including:

  • Percussion riveting
  • Drilling, reaming, and countersinking in panels using specialized tools
  • Setting up structures in build jigs
  • Deburring of components
  • Fettling with approved setting tools
  • Treatment touch-ups in localized areas on aluminum
  • Operation of CNC pillar drills

Key Deliverables:
  • Ensure components are produced with a 'right first time' approach
  • Confirm that any calibrated equipment used is within the required date
  • Responsible for the timely clearance of work phases using the SAP system
  • Highlight any non-conformance to the Process Team Leader
  • Accountable for Health & Safety obligations under Section 7 of the HASAWA 1974
  • Maintain first-party inspection approval (M02 status is subject to obtaining A stamp approval)
  • Ensure general housekeeping within the work area

Key Skills and Requirements:
Candidates must have a recognized indentured apprenticeship and ideally possess prior manufacturing experience in an aerospace production setting.

  • Ability to adhere to standard operating procedures
  • Capable of collaborating effectively within small teams alongside Process Team Leaders
  • Familiarity with Lean manufacturing principles and techniques to support continuous improvement initiatives
  • Self-motivated team player with strong communication skills
