About the Role

This is an exciting opportunity to join a well-established community mental health team in a CQC-rated Outstanding Trust. As a Consultant Adult Psychiatrist, you will lead a multidisciplinary team, including trainees and specialty doctors, working across primary and secondary community services. Your responsibilities will include providing a holistic and assertive service for working-age adults with severe mental illness.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will provide clinical leadership to the Neighbourhood Mental Health Team, working closely with a team of senior workers, community connectors, and other professionals. You will also be responsible for providing advice and training to GPs, increasing their skills and knowledge in managing common mental health presentations.

About the Team

The Neighbourhood Recovery Service has two sub-teams, led by senior practitioners and an operational lead. We pride ourselves on our recovery-oriented care approach and development of a primary care mental health offer, which supports the recovery service in managing workload effectively.

Person Specification

We are looking for a highly skilled and experienced Consultant Adult Psychiatrist with a strong background in general adult psychiatry. The ideal candidate will have:

  • Experience of clinical work in General Adult Psychiatry at ST4-6 or Consultant level in the last three years
  • Experience and knowledge of psychopharmacology
  • Experience of working in adult psychiatry services in the community
  • Excellent working knowledge and experience of the application of the Mental Health Act
  • Understanding of the social aspects relevant to psychiatry
