Job Title: 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Teaching Assistant to provide 1:1 support for a child with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) in a mainstream school. The successful candidate will work closely with the school's SENCO and other staff to create a supportive learning environment.

About the Role:

The role is crucial in ensuring the child's successful integration and providing the necessary support as outlined in their Education, Health, and Care Plan (EHCP). The successful candidate will provide consistent 1:1 support to the child during morning sessions, assist with engaging in educational activities, and manage transitions.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide 1:1 support to a child with ASD during morning sessions
  • Assist the child in engaging with educational activities and managing transitions
  • Monitor and support the child's safety, ensuring they do not access unsafe areas or items
  • Help the child with self-care tasks
  • Implement strategies to manage the child's impulsive behaviours and sensory needs
Requirements:
  • Experience working with children with ASD or similar needs
  • Patience, empathy, and strong communication skills
  • Ability to manage challenging behaviours in a calm and effective manner
  • Commitment to providing consistent and reliable support
  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare, or referenceable experience within the last two years
