Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Council is seeking a Civil Engineering Surveyor to enhance our Investment and Compliance Team. This role is offered on a full-time, permanent basis, with a competitive salary range of £42,403 - £49,498 per annum (pro rata for part-time).
Position Summary
As a key member of our team, you will be tasked with overseeing the civil engineering responsibilities related to our housing and corporate assets. Your expertise will encompass various infrastructures, including sewage treatment facilities, drainage systems, and parking areas.
This position will also require participation in an out-of-hours call-out schedule.
Candidate Profile
- Possession of an RICS accredited surveying degree or a minimum of HNC qualification along with a NEBOSH Certificate in Health and Safety.
- Demonstrated experience in surveying with a comprehensive understanding of current building legislation, including CDM and Health and Safety regulations.
- Strong technical knowledge of housing structures and their components, alongside an ability to identify building defects and propose solutions.
- Proven problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and effective organizational and communication abilities.
- A valid driving license is essential for fulfilling the duties of this position.
Key Competencies
- Extensive experience in managing both housing and corporate assets.
- Proficiency in design software such as Autodesk, AutoCAD Civil 3D, and MicroStation.
- Experience in civil engineering services within social housing or a related field.
- Ability to deliver civil engineering projects in line with the RIBA Plan of Work Framework.
- Experience in managing substantial budgets effectively.
- Familiarity with mapping and photo imaging software.
- Knowledge of statutory and regulatory requirements pertinent to civil engineering.
- Understanding of contract law and building regulations.
- Experience in contract procurement and mobilization.
- Advanced numerical and data analysis skills.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, along with strong decision-making capabilities.
- Excellent project and contract management expertise.
