Job Title: Works Controller

Westinghouse Electric Company LLC. is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Works Controller to join our team. As a Works Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all construction operations on behalf of the Construction Manager.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage and control discipline-specific works in accordance with Construction (Design & Management) regulations.
  • Support the production, review, and approval of Site-Specific Work Instructions (SSOW) in line with company procedures.
  • Implement change control in accordance with client processes for SSOW.
  • Develop and deliver task start-up/pre-job briefs.
  • Ensure timely reporting of accidents and incidents in line with the company's Construction Management System.
  • Verify that all personnel undertaking works on behalf of the company are suitably qualified and experienced.
  • Monitor and track delivery of agreed schedules.
  • Liaise with Project Engineers to resolve technical queries, resource issues, equipment, and material issues, schedule updates, etc.
  • Support the preparation of Request for Quotation (RFQ) builds, ensuring Construction norms are included.
  • Attend key task-specific meetings, including opening up, progress, constructability, HAZCON, HAZOP, etc., and contribute accordingly.
  • Contribute to identified Post-Job Reviews, ensuring learning is captured where applicable.
  • Maintain professionalism, be responsive, and adaptive to change, and propose and implement improvements where identified as value-adding.
  • Interface with key client resources, including Health, Protection, and Safety (HP&S).
  • Collate site-based documentation in support of Lessons Learned Reports (LTRs).
Accountabilities:
  • Accountable for undertaking Workplace Inspections/Housekeeping Inspections on a daily basis.
  • Ensure SSOW are up-to-date and available for use, avoiding delays.
  • Administer and complete Construction Quality Punch Lists.
  • Engage Inspection authorities at relevant stages of works.
  • Comply with the standards and expectations set by the company.
  • Administer Site Status reports in a timely manner, including detailed analysis of Activity Code status, delay, disruption, workforce numbers in line with company processes.
  • Attend and support Integrated Work Management (IWM) daily end-of-shift meetings.
  • Ensure compliance with the Client's Management System at task level.
  • Ensure supervisors are briefed, and resources are allocated as per the agreed R&R/Resource Allocation output, and any variations are immediately reported to the CM for action.
  • Administer Goods Inward to the location where the works are provided, ensuring gate bookings, etc., are in place.
  • Report 'off-normal' conditions using the ATLAS reporting system.
  • Maintain professional relationships with clients in the spirit of collaboration.
Authorities:
  • Authorized to start and stop work under company control, issuing stop commands where Health & Safety compliance is undermined, Quality objectives cannot be met, or works are deemed 'not constructible.'
  • Authorized to redeploy operatives to other works where it is not practicable to continue on planned works – redeployment must be communicated to the Construction Management.
TDA Minimum Training/SQEP Requirements:
  • TDA Induction.
  • IOSH Managing Safely.
  • Site Supervisor/Manager Health & Safety Test CSCS Card.
  • Discipline-specific professional recognized qualification.
  • Experience in the field of work to be supervised.
  • Relevant training and experience of management and supervision skills.

  • Sellafield Site Induction.
  • Security Check (SC) clearance, or above.
  • Access to C2/R2+ Areas course.
  • FGMSP Induction Walk round.
  • Decommissioning Safety Induction.
