Purchasing and Payment Officer Role

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Purchasing and Payment Officer to join our Housing and Neighbourhood Service team. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for processing requisitions, invoices, and purchase orders on our finance system, ensuring accurate and timely payments.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Process and manage purchase orders, invoices, and payments in accordance with council policies and procedures.
  • Utilize our finance system to track and manage transactions, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to resolve payment and procurement issues, providing excellent customer service.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, ensuring timely and cost-effective delivery of goods and services.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of procurement strategies, ensuring alignment with council objectives.
Requirements:
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret and apply financial policies and procedures.
  • Proficiency in using financial systems and software, with the ability to learn new systems and technologies.
  • Ability to work accurately and efficiently, with a high level of attention to detail.
  • GCSEs in Maths and English, or equivalent experience.
