Our state-of-the-art laboratories provide a wide array of diagnostic services. In addition to diagnosing various medical conditions, our Pathology department plays a crucial role in therapeutic drug monitoring, blood typing and transfusion, as well as stem cell preservation.

Position Overview
The Director of Pathology Operations is a key leadership position responsible for managing both clinical and operational aspects of our services. This role will involve collaboration with essential stakeholders, including the Clinical Operations Director, Chief Nurse, Medical Director, and our team of consultants, to improve service delivery and enhance patient outcomes.
The successful candidate will provide guidance and support to staff within the Pathology services, including Biomedical Scientists, Receptionists, Managers, and Porters, fostering a culture of clinical excellence and continuous improvement for patients, staff, and consultants alike.

- Job Type: Full-time, permanent position, 37.5 hours per week.
- Shift Pattern: Monday to Friday.
- Salary: Competitive, based on experience.

Key Responsibilities
- Lead the operational management and delivery of Pathology care services, encompassing all areas including Biochemistry, Transfusion Services, Haematology, Stem Cell, and Histopathology, ensuring high-quality and effective services that meet patient and consultant needs.
- Oversee the comprehensive delivery of pathology services.
- Ensure services are provided efficiently and within budgetary constraints.
- Participate in the Silver On-Call rota, demonstrating a collaborative and visible leadership style aligned with our values of going further, working as one, and personalizing care.
- Accountable for achieving strategic objectives, fostering innovation, supporting operational excellence, and leveraging growth opportunities across services.
Qualifications and Experience
- Registered professional or degree-level qualification with relevant experience.
- Postgraduate qualification in health, management, or business-related fields, or evidence of ongoing professional development.
- Experience in a senior role within a healthcare setting, with a solid understanding of the performance requirements for operational service delivery.
- Extensive experience in enhancing clinical and operational services and teams.
- Knowledge of the private healthcare market, including its opportunities and challenges.
- Ability to develop and implement a vision and strategy for a clinically excellent service.
- Strong relationship-building skills and the ability to influence both internal and external senior stakeholders, including executive board members.
