About the RoleThis exciting opportunity is based within our renewals department, where you'll be working with a wide variety of professional and management risks, including cyber and technology risks. As a senior member of the team, you'll be responsible for providing an excellent underwriting service to brokers, monitoring and analysing broker activity, and identifying areas for improvement.
Key Responsibilities- Manage a portfolio of risks and underwrite large and complex renewal cases within defined underwriting authority
- Collaborate with the Markel Claims team on complex cases to ensure the best outcomes for policyholders and Markel
- Demonstrate and promote a thorough knowledge of company guidelines and authority levels to achieve profitability and underwriting objectives
- Provide excellent service to our brokers, prioritising renewals and mid-term adjustments to ensure deadlines are met and maximising business development opportunities
- Attend underwriting and broker meetings as required, providing insight into developments, trends, and feedback on market conditions
- Experience of financial lines underwriting, including professional liability, cyber, and/or management risks
- Ability to review wordings, lead in the complexities of drafting clauses/endorsements, and tailored wordings
- Excellent written and spoken communication skills
- A high level of accuracy and attention to detail
- Track record in building and developing broker relationships
- Ability to regularly analyse competitors' products, capabilities, and appetite and share within the team
- Proven ability to renew business while maintaining underwriting discipline
- ACII and/or similar qualification preferred
