Senior Camp Supervisor 10+ - Barracudas Activity Day Camps

Working Hours: 08:30 - 17:30

Compensation: £628.71 per week, based on age, experience, and qualifications.

Accountable to: Camp Senior Team, Area Manager, and Central Office.

Barracudas Activity Day Camps is dedicated to ensuring the safety and well-being of children and young individuals, and we expect all personnel to uphold this commitment.

RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE SENIOR CAMP SUPERVISOR

  • Assist in establishing and maintaining an inviting base room environment for children, ensuring tidiness and proper storage of equipment.
  • Adhere to policies and procedures to guarantee a fun and secure atmosphere for the children under your supervision.
  • Implement the daily activity schedule to deliver the diverse range of sessions promised by Barracudas.
  • Design and conduct various activities with structure and enthusiasm.
  • Ensure the needs of the children are met through active supervision and attention throughout the day, including during breaks and meal times.
  • Utilize available resources to plan and execute age-appropriate activities for the designated group.
  • Build rapport with each child in your group, discovering their interests and integrating these into their camp experience.
  • Collaborate with fellow staff members to facilitate sessions.
  • Encourage full participation from all children in the group.
  • Take charge of general welfare and safeguarding responsibilities.
  • Ensure the safe usage of equipment during your sessions.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience or qualifications in working with secondary school-aged children.
  • Must be 18 years or older by the contract start date.
  • Eligibility to work in the UK is required.
  • Provision of satisfactory professional or academic references.
  • Must be enthusiastic, caring, organized, possess excellent communication skills, and demonstrate initiative.
  • Ability to adapt and effectively manage unpredictable challenges in a childcare environment.
  • Must obtain an enhanced DBS check through Barracudas or possess an existing enhanced DBS on the Update Service.
  • Participation in a Virtual Assessment Event is required for new applicants.
  • Completion of annual Online Training is mandatory.
  • Experience in managing challenging behavior for children aged 10 and above, or willingness to learn.
  • Attendance at an Induction Training Day prior to the first working season is necessary.
  • Assistance with camp pack-up at the end of the season is expected.

ADDITIONAL DUTIES

  • Ensure compliance with all Health and Safety regulations by following instructions and demonstrating a proactive approach to safety.
  • Activities organized or delivered must be suitable for the children in your care, based on your qualifications and knowledge.
  • Encourage children to engage in new activities and adhere to the scheduled activity program.
  • Maintain awareness of children's safety and whereabouts, respecting them as individuals and communicating daily about behavior expectations.
  • Follow all camp systems, including registration and collection procedures, while supporting colleagues in adhering to Health and Safety guidelines.
  • Serve as a positive role model by promoting healthy lifestyles and good hygiene practices.
  • Report any Child Protection concerns to the Management Team or designated personnel.
  • Make reasonable adjustments to accommodate the needs of children with additional requirements or medical conditions.
  • Collaborate with the SSI to enhance inclusivity and open discussions regarding the timetable and group interactions.
  • Depending on staff availability, you may be asked to lead Skills Builder sessions.
  • All staff may be required to assist with swimming sessions; appropriate swimwear must be provided.
