Research and Development Engineer

We are seeking an experienced Advanced Research Engineer to join our Metrology Team at the Manufacturing Technology Centre in Coventry.
Key Responsibilities- Deliver technical projects and support project-related activities across various technology departments and industrial sectors.
- Conduct innovative engineering research work focused on technology/manufacturing readiness levels (TRL/MRL) 3+ and demonstrate industrial project delivery.
- Contribute to the identification, technical specification, and delivery of new and novel technology capability into the MTC, customers, or industrial members' premises.
This role will involve involvement in all aspects of project delivery, including concept generation, detailed design, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, technical support of commissioning, and awareness of project budget and deliverables.
Requirements- Demonstrable knowledge and application of technologies through previous project work, including tactile measurement technologies, non-contact 3D point cloud gathering systems, and surface metrology technologies.
- Understanding of the advantages and disadvantages of these technologies and how different technologies may be more appropriate to specific inspection applications.
- Awareness of how metrology and inspection can support broader Digital Engineering/Industry 4.0.
- Ability to apply this knowledge to down-selection style projects to make objective recommendations on candidate technologies/systems for specific applications.
- Ability to apply this knowledge to undertake validation trials and Measurement System Analysis studies to prove a system's capability for an application.
- Experience working in R&D or project-based environments.
