About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to lead mechanical design and development projects for our range of marine products. As a key member of our fast-paced Design Office, you will be responsible for ensuring that our products meet technical, safety, and regulatory requirements, and for continuously improving our design processes.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and development of mechanical systems and components for our products, including winches, windlasses, and thrusters.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop integrated solutions, manage projects, and coordinate with external vendors and partners.
  • Mentor and train junior engineers on design best practices and techniques.
  • Continuously improve design processes to ensure efficiency and quality.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to resolve issues and ensure product quality.
  • Travel when required, including outside of the UK.
  • Perform any ad-hoc duties as your line manager requests.
Requirements
  • A degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design Engineering, or a related field.
  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical design, with a focus on product development, ideally in a marine environment.
  • Expertise in CAD software (preferably Creo – training will be provided) and FEA tools.
  • A strong understanding of mechanical engineering principles, including material selection, stress analysis, and kinematics.
  • Experience with design for manufacturability and assembly – injection moulding.
  • Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A hands-on approach and ability to build and test prototypes and solutions.
  • A proactive attitude towards achieving company goals and targets.
  • A willingness to embrace our company's core values and culture.
  • Passion for the boating industry, with sailing or powerboating experience preferred.
