GSL Education is seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistant to join our vibrant school community.

About the Role:

  • Provide direct support to students with special needs, assisting them with academic tasks and ensuring comprehension of learning materials.
  • Collaborate with classroom teachers to create an inclusive and supportive learning environment for all students.
  • Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices and legal requirements related to special education.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one support and assistance to students with diverse learning needs.
  • Assist students with their academic activities, both in group settings and individual sessions.
  • Offer emotional support and encouragement to foster a positive and nurturing learning environment.
  • Work closely with teachers and the Special Educational Needs Coordinator (SENCO) to implement individualized education plans and tailored support strategies.
  • Monitor student progress and provide constructive feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.

Ideal Candidate Profile:

  • Genuine passion for working with children and a commitment to making a positive impact on their lives.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with students and colleagues.
  • Experience working with individuals with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) is highly desirable.
  • Patience, empathy, and a deep understanding of the unique needs of children with special educational requirements.

This role requires a thorough understanding of safeguarding and child protection practices. Successful applicants must undergo all necessary background checks, including an enhanced DBS registered to the update service or willingness to apply for one.
