We are seeking an experienced Programme Manager to join our team at ESG, a leading software and services company in the utility sector. As a Programme Manager, you will be accountable for the delivery of a programme of work, comprising multiple projects that may be internal, industry change, client-facing, or a combination of these.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record in commercial IT software projects and programmes, with a minimum of 7 years' experience in a Project Management role. They will be responsible for managing larger-scale programmes of work/client-related sub-portfolios in various phases of the lifecycle, from pipeline to post-go-live support.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver projects and programmes within the ESG projects portfolio to the appropriate level of Time/Cost/Quality/Scope, ensuring the right level of governance to meet company targets and objectives.
- Support the development of the team, ranging from Senior Project Manager to more junior team members.
- Assist with pre-sales engagement to ensure projects and programmes are correctly sized, scoped, and costed.
- Responsible for all project and programme delivery within their remit.
- Engage with relevant teams (e.g., sales & account management teams; IT; engineering) to ensure successful delivery of committed projects on time, on budget, and to the required level of quality.
- Work with Account Managers, Service Delivery Managers, and Product Line Managers to ensure appropriate key customer stakeholder management within projects and programmes from project management to CxO level.
- Responsible for inputting a monthly Portfolio Management Board.
- Responsible for chairing regular Programme-level Steering Board meetings both internally and externally with clients.
- Monitor the financial health of the portfolio against company revenue targets for projects within their remit.
- Escalate portfolio-level risks, issues, and dependencies that need close attention and action.
- Promote the sharing of lessons learned across the Projects team and beyond.
- Ensure the creation, review, and approval of relevant project commercial documents, such as Statements of Work (SOWs).
- Manage appropriate RAID logs according to programme needs.
Requirements:
- 7+ years' experience in commercial IT software projects and programmes at a minimum of a Project Management role.
- T software experience in a management or delivery capacity.
- Experience of the full IT software development lifecycle.
- Experience of delivering large programmes into commercial organisations.
- Commercial experience of pre-sales and delivery of projects, with pre-canned products and services.
- Experience of defining, documenting, and supporting end-to-end processes for standardization.
- Experience of direct customer-facing stakeholder management roles, interfacing with customer contacts at all levels from technical to C-level.
- Experience of owning and running programme budgets > £1m / 4,000 man-days.
- PRINCE2 Practitioner.
- Managing Successful Programmes Foundation/Practitioner (not essential).
- Previous experience in the Utilities Industry is highly desirable.
