Individual Support Assistant for Students with Autism

Key Responsibilities:- Deliver personalized support to learners with Special Educational Needs (SEN), particularly those with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD).
- Assist in the execution of tailored education plans (IEPs) and behavioral support frameworks.
- Facilitate students' academic and social growth.
- Work collaboratively with educators, guardians, and other specialists to foster a nurturing educational atmosphere.
- Document and communicate student progress and behavior to the SEN Coordinator and other relevant personnel.
- Level 2 or higher qualification in Supporting Teaching and Learning in Schools or an equivalent credential.
- Experience engaging with children or young adults with ASD and other SEN.
- Awareness of the unique challenges and requirements of students with ASD.
Minimum of GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths.
Experience Required:Prior experience in a similar capacity within an educational environment.
Knowledge and Skills:- Familiarity with SEN policies and practices.
- Strong communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Capability to function effectively within a team setting.
- Patience, empathy, and resilience when supporting students with SEN.
- First Aid certification.
- Makaton or PECS training.
This position entails working in a school context, adhering to school hours and term schedules. The role may involve physical activity and managing challenging behaviors. Training and support will be provided as needed.
