Job Summary

Barchester Healthcare is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Second Chef to join their team. As a Second Chef, you will play a crucial role in assisting the Head Chef in creating nutritious, flavoursome, and well-balanced menus that cater to the diverse needs of residents. You will work closely with the Head Chef to develop menus, manage kitchen operations, and ensure that all food is prepared to the highest standards.

Main Responsibilities
  • Assist the Head Chef in menu development and kitchen operations
  • Manage the kitchen in the Head Chef's absence, ensuring that all food is prepared to the highest standards
  • Work with fresh produce to deliver high-quality and wholesome dishes
  • Create a warm and welcoming environment within the home
  • Manage stock control and work within budget
  • Complete regular audits to ensure compliance with health and safety regulations

Person Specification
  • City & Guilds/NVQ/SVQ or equivalent qualification
  • Experience working with fresh seasonal food and a good understanding of nutrition
  • Personable and warm approach with a genuine interest in the wellbeing of residents
  • Ability to create a warm and welcoming environment within the home
  • Confidence engaging with residents to create appetising and nutritious menus
