HGV Technician/Fitter

We are seeking an experienced HGV Technician/Fitter to join our team at SMarter Recruitment. The successful candidate will be responsible for performing electrical and mechanical repairs on heavy goods vehicles, diagnosing and troubleshooting issues, and conducting regular maintenance and servicing.
Key Responsibilities:- Perform electrical and mechanical repairs on heavy goods vehicles
- Diagnose and troubleshoot issues with HGVs
- Conduct regular maintenance and servicing of HGVs
- Use hand tools and specialized equipment to repair, weld, fabricate, dig, assemble, and maintain HGVs
- Inspect and test HGVs to ensure they meet safety standards
- Keep accurate records of repairs and maintenance performed on HGVs
- Operate a forklift to move and transport HGV parts
- Previous experience as an HGV Technician or similar role
- Strong knowledge of electrical systems in HGVs
- Ability to perform heavy lifting and manual labor as required
- Proficient in using hand tools for repairs and maintenance
- Welding and fabrication skills are a required
- Familiarity with soldering techniques is advantageous
- Excellent problem-solving and diagnostic skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in record keeping
Please note that this job description is not exhaustive and additional duties may be assigned as required. The working hours are Monday to Friday, 7am to 6pm, with a 1 hour lunch break.
