Job Summary:
The Devon County Council is seeking a skilled Medical Practitioner to fill a 12-month fixed-term maternity cover position within the Recruitment Assessment and Family Finding Service. As a General Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in supporting children and families during the adoption process.
Key Responsibilities:
- Work closely with foster carers and social workers to gain an understanding of the child's past experiences.
- Support children and families during the adoption process, including providing advice and guidance.
- Communicate and negotiate with a wide range of multi-agency professionals to draw together and coordinate the implementation of an adoption plan.
- Build relationships with children's child care teams across Local Authorities.
- Receive monthly supervision and guidance to fulfill your role, as well as additional training as appropriate and specific to adoption.
Requirements:
- A level of autonomy and a basic understanding of the legal process.
- Ability to communicate and negotiate with a wide range of multi-agency professionals.
- Basic understanding of the adoption process and the role of a General Practitioner in this context.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- DBS disclosure required.
