An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Consultant Cardiologist with a strong interest in Interventional Cardiology to join the University Hospital of Wales, Cardiff.
This permanent appointment will complement the existing team of 17 full-time Clinical Cardiologists dedicated to delivering high-quality tertiary cardiac services to a population of over 1 million people.
Main ResponsibilitiesAs a Consultant Cardiologist, you will be responsible for delivering approximately 1750 coronary interventions and 2500 diagnostic cardiac catheterisations annually.
You will work alongside 6 interventional cardiology colleagues and participate in a 1 in 9 on-call rota for acute interventional cardiology at UHW, as well as a 1 in 17 rota for acute general cardiology.
The successful candidate will be expected to take a lead role in the rapid access chest pain service and contribute to the development of the department's services.

RequirementsTo be considered for this role, you must be on the GMC Specialist Register or be a Specialist Registrar within six months of your expected date of receipt of a CCT/CESR(CP).
You will also need to have a broad training and experience in the practice of clinical cardiology, including interventional cardiology, and be able to demonstrate effective team and multidisciplinary working skills.
Additionally, you will need to have evidence of active research interests and be able to teach medical students and junior doctors.
