Overview: Ageas Insurance is seeking a Lead Tax Specialist to oversee the internal and external tax compliance and reporting functions for the Ageas UK Group. This role involves managing various stakeholder relationships, including those with HMRC and external auditors.

The Lead Tax Specialist will serve as the primary liaison with HMRC, fostering relationships with the Customer Compliance Manager and supporting team, while managing daily interactions through regular written and face-to-face communication.


Key Responsibilities:

- Oversee the submission of Corporation Tax computations and returns, VAT returns, and IPT returns to HMRC, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and deadlines.

- Ensure that tax disclosures in the year-end accounts are accurately calculated in line with applicable legislation and accounting standards.

- Assist Payroll and HR with employment tax issues as necessary.

- Maintain documentation arrangements, review, and sign-off on appropriate controls for tax-related matters, ensuring compliance with Senior Accounting Officer legislation.

- Prepare Ageas UK businesses for the implementation of the BEPS Pillar II framework.


Required Skills and Experience:

- Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively engage with individuals at all levels, demonstrating persuasiveness and approachability while diplomatically challenging assumptions.

- Comprehensive understanding of Corporation Tax, VAT, and IPT, along with a solid grasp of the relevant business environment and commercial awareness.

- Ability to analyze, evaluate, and interpret various financial data, with a keen eye for identifying inconsistencies.

- Excellent written communication skills, with confidence in verbal communication, enabling the establishment of strong working relationships with directors, managers, external parties (including HMRC), and colleagues.

- Proficient in IT, particularly with spreadsheet software, especially Microsoft Excel.
