About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Deputy Director of Informatics to join our team at North Bristol NHS Trust. As a key member of our Genomics Informatics team, you will play a crucial role in overseeing and managing the delivery of projects within Informatics.

Main Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement a data and digital implementation plan to deliver the NHSE Genomics Data and Digital Strategy.
  • Work with pathology networks, Genomics Medicine Service Alliance (GMSA), and trusts to incorporate genomics into trust digital strategies and programmes.
  • Provide genomics informatics leadership to national and regional programmes.
  • Report directly to the SWGLH Informatics Director and be accountable to the SWGLH Operations Director.
  • Deputise for the Informatics Director in regional and national meetings as required.
Key Duties
  • Lead the procurement of the new Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) for the SWGLH.
  • Develop complex data models to support the development of LIMS procurement across both sites of the GLH.
  • Coordinate the interoperability of Genomics digital systems for SWGLH and GMSA, prioritising, assessing, and managing workload.
  • Advise the GLH on the effective utilisation of existing investment in digital solutions and associated technology.
  • Develop systems to manage genomics data sets in line with national data standards, ensuring data requests are delivered within key Quality KPIs.
  • Provide highlight reports to the Genomics unit informatics group on data and digital projects to ensure coherence with national interoperability projects.
  • Promote a data quality agenda across the GLH to improve the quality of data captured about genetic services, complying with Information governance standards.
  • Ensure the provision of bespoke reporting solutions, including operational performance across the GLH, considering the end-to-end pathway.
  • Contribute to the national understanding of Genomics datasets and performance metrics required to meet national Genomics data specifications.
  • Work with the GMS Board and stakeholders to identify data streams informing the strategic direction for the GMS, supporting the GMS Informatics group as an active member.
