Job Title: Senior Data Engineer

Job Description:

Allen Lane is delighted to be supporting a local government client in their search for an experienced data engineer to assist in the delivery of the corporate data programme.

You'll be leading on the core technology used to deliver it, the Modern Data Platform is built in Microsoft Azure and Power BI.

The successful data engineer will use their knowledge of data warehousing systems to be an integral part of the team delivering the corporate data programme.

This role is predominantly remote with 1 or 2 days per month required on site.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide guidance and support of staff with the use of Power BI and the Modern Data Platform.
  • Identify issues and challenges relating to integrated data and propose solutions for decision making.
  • Lead on all technical maintenance of the Modern Data Platform.
  • Build and link data sets to enable data analysts and scientists to easily retrieve insights, including the access of sensitive data from back office systems.
  • Build pipelines and APIs to connect operational systems, data and BI systems.

Requirements:

  • Significant knowledge of modern data engineering tools, practices and technology.
  • An in-depth understanding of Azure Data Factory, SSIS, SSAS, SharePoint and Power BI.
  • Experience of data extraction, transformation and modelling processes.
  • The ability to work with multiple complex data sets, deriving insights and patterns including building dashboards.
  • Excellent programming skills across a range of languages.
