The Project Accountant will be instrumental in overseeing the financial dimensions of various large-scale mechanical initiatives. The successful candidate will manage project budgets, revenue and cost recognition, forecasting, financial reporting, and cash flow generation based on project milestones and invoicing. It is essential that all financial operations align with corporate objectives and industry regulations. Key Responsibilities:

  • Financial Oversight: Supervise and evaluate the financial performance of projects, ensuring adherence to budgets and achievement of financial goals.
  • Develop comprehensive project budgets, forecasts, and financial statements for executive review.
  • Examine project expenditures, pinpoint discrepancies, and suggest corrective measures.
  • Revenue and Cost Management: Guarantee precise and prompt recognition of project revenues and expenses, adhering to applicable accounting principles.
  • Assess and interpret contract stipulations to establish suitable revenue recognition techniques.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure accurate documentation and monitoring of costs and revenues.
  • Cash Flow Oversight: Create and track project cash flows based on development phases and invoicing milestones.
  • Partner with project leaders and finance personnel to ensure timely invoicing and accurate cash flow projections.
  • Finalize and reconcile projects promptly.
  • Monthly reconciliation of project sub-ledgers with the general ledger.
  • Manage cash inflow and outflow timing to enhance working capital and mitigate financial risks.
  • Cost Management: Establish and uphold cost control systems and protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with internal controls regarding project-specific materials and inventory.
  • Review and sanction project-related expenses, maintaining alignment with budgetary limits.
  • Reporting & Analysis: Generate regular financial reports, including cost assessments, profitability evaluations, and variance analyses.

Qualifications:

To excel in this position, candidates should possess:

  • A professional accountancy qualification (CIMA or ACCA) with a minimum of five years of post-qualification experience.
  • Demonstrated expertise in revenue and cost recognition, along with cash flow management for large-scale projects.
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong analytical skills with a meticulous attention to detail.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Proficiency in financial software and ERP systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, LN).
  • Advanced Excel capabilities, including financial modeling and data analysis.
