Job Title: Field Service Engineer

Finning International is seeking a skilled Field Service Engineer to join our team. As a Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing expert technical support to our customers in the marine industry.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Respond to customer service requests and provide on-site diagnostic and repair services for Caterpillar products.
  • Execute maintenance, overhaul, troubleshooting, repair, testing, and commissioning of Caterpillar and MaK engines, packages, and systems installed in vessels.
  • Identify parts required for repairs and requisition them to ensure timely completion of work.
  • Provide estimates of arrival time at customer locations and agree on dates and times for service re-visits.
  • Undertake repair and service work on machines to agreed work plans, removing and dispatching components for specialist attention and re-installing the original or replacement.
  • Conduct local site risk assessments and prepare method statements in line with standard situation procedures and principles.
  • Inspect and test completed machines to ensure they are operating to expected performance levels.
  • Complete service reports and warranty documentation to enable timely charging of customers and suppliers.
Requirements:
  • Formal apprentice training (NVQ Level 3) and served engineer experience.
  • Knowledge of electronic, mechanical, and electrical engineering principles.
  • Experience in the use of field-based diagnosis tools and equipment.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with the ability to work in high-pressure situations and to tight deadlines.
