Job Overview
As a Satellite Systems Engineer at Airbus, you will be responsible for specifying and overseeing the procurement of Electrical Ground Support Equipment (EGSE) and day-to-day support of the electrical test racks used during spacecraft build and test. This role involves validation and routine maintenance, as well as configuring, maintaining, and administering the computers on the EGSE network.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Maintenance and Fault Finding: Perform maintenance and fault finding of electronic/RF test racks to ensure optimal performance.
  2. Computer System Administration: Administer computer systems and networks in Windows and Linux environments to ensure seamless operation.
  3. Programming and Scripting: Utilize programming and scripting languages to develop and implement test sequences and scripts for spacecraft systems tests.
  4. Environmental and Launch Test Campaigns: Participate in environmental and launch test campaigns to ensure spacecraft systems meet performance requirements.
  5. Test Specifications and Data Management: Prepare test specifications for test racks, review data packs from suppliers, and support reviews of test equipment design and non-conformances.

Skill Set
Essential Skills:

  1. Electrical Engineering Background: Minimum of a degree in an Electrical Engineering related discipline or relevant experience in a similar role (>5 years).
  2. Theoretical and Practical Knowledge: Good theoretical and practical knowledge of electronic and RF test racks.
  3. Fault Finding Skills: Fault finding skills down to board and component level.
  4. Network and Computer Administration: Network and computer administration in Windows and Linux environments.
  5. Documentation Skills: Good documentation skills (procedures, reports, etc.).
  6. Interface Knowledge: Knowledge of interfaces such as Mil-1553, SpaceWire, CAN bus, RS232/422, etc.
  7. ATE Environments: ATE environments such as PCI, VXI, PXI, etc.
  8. Lab Test Equipment: Competent in the use of a variety of general-purpose lab test equipment.
  9. Test Systems: Knowledge of test systems.
  10. Design and Commissioning: Design, manufacture, and commissioning of test systems.
  11. Shift Work and Travel: Willing to support shifts and travel overseas on test campaigns as required.

Desirable Skills

  1. Electrical Integration Experience: Experience of electrical integration of equipment on a spacecraft.
  2. TMTC Database Knowledge: Working knowledge of TMTC Databases.
  3. Test Sequence Development: Writing test sequences/scripts for execution of spacecraft systems tests including FDIR from the Central Checkout System (CCS).
  4. Environmental and Launch Test Campaigns: Experience of environmental and launch test campaigns.
  5. Operating Systems: Familiar with the Windows and Linux operating systems.
  6. Programming Languages: Programming and scripting languages, particularly writing and debugging Linux/Unix bash scripts is an advantage. Knowledge of a programming language such as C, Java, Python, TCL, VBA.
