Swimming Coach Opportunity

We are seeking a highly motivated and inspiring Swimming Coach to join our team at Haringey Aquatics, a competitive aquatics club based in north London.

The successful candidate will plan and deliver high-quality coaching sessions across our development and competitive programmes, working with our Club and Masters Squads. Key responsibilities include:

  • Accountability for the welfare of individual swimmers and teachers during training sessions
  • Planning, delivery, and management of training sessions in conjunction with the head coach
  • Opportunity to lead land-based strength training sessions for talented squad swimmers (if appropriately qualified or willing to gain the relevant qualification)
  • Helping deliver the vision of the head coach through engaging and progressive training plans
  • Identifying, encouraging, and developing talent across the swimming programme
  • Monitoring, evaluating, and providing feedback on individual swimmer's progress and setting development goals where appropriate
  • Providing ongoing feedback to staff and conducting performance appraisals
  • Maintaining poolside discipline in accordance with our Club's policies and procedures and with Swim England Code of Ethics
  • Helping arrange coaching/teaching cover for our sessions and being available to provide coaching cover across other facilities when necessary
  • Staying up-to-date with the latest developments and innovations in swimming coaching, updating qualifications as necessary
  • Maintaining a comprehensive register of attendance
  • Representing the Club as an ambassador

Candidate attributes:

  • Level 2 ASA Coaching Award or Swim England Swimming Coach Certificate
  • Strong knowledge of child safeguarding and welfare procedures (with relevant qualifications)
  • Strong technical skills and understanding of the discipline of swimming
  • Excellent interpersonal skills (friendly and engaging)
  • Strong organisational skills
  • Ability to motivate, encourage, and inspire swimmers
  • Ability to communicate effectively with parents, colleagues, and committee
  • Ability to work closely and constructively with Head Coach and committee
  • Ability to work and develop relationships with key personnel at training venues
  • Ability to work effectively, independently, and as part of a team
  • Punctuality, reliability, and commitment to the club and its goals
  • A full driving licence or ability to reach required locations
  • Enhanced DBS certification will be required
