Consultant in Urogynaecology
Position Overview
This temporary role presents an excellent opportunity for the selected candidate to engage in Urogynaecology at Manchester University NHS Foundation Trust, featuring a 10 PA job structure for a duration of 6 months. This position is crucial to maintaining the delivery of outstanding care for women experiencing pelvic floor issues amidst current healthcare challenges and to provide on-call support for the emergency gynaecology service across the organization. We seek a dedicated professional to become part of our team. Previous experience at a Consultant level is advantageous but not mandatory. This role is ideal for individuals looking to enhance their expertise in a specialized urogynaecology unit, with ample access to professional growth opportunities.
To ensure high-quality care for women and to foster professional development for consultants, it is anticipated that the successful candidate may need to operate across multiple locations. However, job plans will be structured to minimize daily travel between sites. A flexible mindset will be essential for the chosen applicant to adapt to the evolving healthcare landscape in the region.
Key Responsibilities
- Support and enhance the secondary and tertiary Urogynaecology services offered by the Trust.
- Contribute to the improvement of service quality within the organization.
- Assume clinical responsibility for a defined group of women under care, both in outpatient and inpatient settings, and provide coverage for patients managed by other consultant colleagues as necessary.
- Conduct outpatient clinics as outlined in the job plan.
- Perform surgical procedures in operating rooms at Trust sites, including anticipated participation in weekend surgical lists.
- Engage in the consultant rota for daytime and out-of-hours responsibilities at designated hospital sites.
- Provide out-of-hours care as specified in the individual job plan.
- Complete necessary administrative tasks associated with the position.
- Participate in the clinical education and training of the broader multidisciplinary team.
- Actively engage in Clinical Governance, with opportunities to lead and partake in audit initiatives relevant to clinical care.
- Encourage research and academic activities within the department.
- Attend Trust and departmental orientation and fulfill all mandatory training requirements.
Currently, clinical activities are conducted at various hospital sites. As the service evolves, the successful candidate must be willing to adapt to potential changes in work locations.
